While we all wait for travel restrictions to ease up, Canada has made some exemptions for fully vaccinated travellers. Those who meet the requirements are no longer required to submit proof of a valid job offer to receive an Invitation to Apply for IEC’s Working Holiday pool or to enter the country provided you:
- are eligible to enter Canada
- are asymptomatic
- meet the government of Canada requirements of fully vaccinated travellers
- meet all other entry requirements
IEC candidates will be asked to show proof of vaccination when they arrive at a Canadian border. To be considered fully vaccinated, you must have received the full series of a vaccine – or a combination of vaccines – accepted by the Government of Canada at least 14 days prior to entering Canada. IEC candidates who are not fully vaccinated must have proof of a valid job offer when they arrive at a Canadian border to enter Canada and will still be subject to quarantine measure.
Accepted vaccines:
- Pfizer (Comirnaty, tozinameran, BNT162b2)
- Moderna (mRNA-1273)
- AstraZeneca (Vaxzevria, AZD1222, Covishield)
- Janssen (Johnson & Johnson) – single dose
Vaccines not currently accepted for fully vaccinated status in Canada:
- Bharat Biotech (Covaxin, BBV152 A, B, C)
- Cansino (Convidecia, Ad5-nCoV)
- Gamalaya (Sputnik V, Gam-Covid-Vac)
- Sinopharm (BBIBP-CorV, Sinopharm-Wuhan)
- Sinovac (CoronaVac, PiCoVacc)
- Vector Institute (EpiVacCorona)
- Other
If you don’t meet the requirements of the accepted vaccination you should have a quarantine plan in place. Even with quarantine restrictions easing up you will still require the following documents to enter the country:
- Job offer letter/ Vaccination Certificate
- Negative Covid test – PCR test from a private center
- Self-isolation place and plan in Canada for 14 days ( if you have not received a vaccine)
- Proof of Sufficient Funds
- Health Insurance
- Point of Entry letter
