HOW IT WORKS

The Canada IEC Working Holiday works on a pool and invitation system.  Applicants are put into the pool and wait to get selected and given the invitation to apply. It is only once they have received their ITA that can they apply for the visa and work permit. The duration of the visa granted is between 12-24 months depending on your nationality.

WHY A WORKING VISA

We all know that traveling can be incredibly expensive. By applying for a temporary working visa in Canada you earn money from your job that you can use to fund your own trip. So, not only do you earn money to explore a whole new country, you also have money to spend on other excursions or experiences that you otherwise wouldn’t be able to afford.

Working in a different country also provides you with the opportunity to gain a range of knowledge and new skills. There are huge advantages (both personal and professional) that come with soaking up their own working culture and taking what you’ve learned back to future careers and roles within your home country.

WHAT KIND OF JOBS ARE AVAILABLE

The type of job that you take on while staying and working in Canada will depend on where you decide to base yourself during your time there. There are a number of different job opportunities throughout the cities and the more rural areas too.

Basing yourself in the city will allow you to work in more standard roles: restaurants, cafés, bars and shops. This means that you can use the skills and experience that you already have to find and secure work. If you’re looking for something a little different then why not head out into some of the more rural areas and see what types of jobs are out there? Organic farms need fruit pickers and ranches may need some cowboys to help out. The possibilities are endless!

There is no better way to spend a year (or two) than by working and traveling through Canada, surrounded by amazing people and culture. By choosing a base and working, you can meet new people, uncover the real Canada and develop a greater understanding of its amazing culture!
