Work Permits

Work permits are permission documents given to foreign nationals who wish to take up work in another country. Alliance Visas offers a variety of different work permits which all depend on a number of requirements.

Australian Temporary work (Skilled) Visas (Subclass 457)

This visa has been abolished.

You may be looking to work in Australia through a company sponsorship or looking to secure a job in Australia. In this case you will be looking to get on a Worker Visa (Subclass 457).

This visa allows you to lawfully work in Australia for an approved Australian business for a period of up to four years. To be eligible for the visa applicants need to have an employer willing to sponsor.

On 18 April 2017, the Hon Malcolm Turnbull MP, Prime Minister of Australia and the Hon Peter Dutton MP, Minister for Immigration and Border Protection jointly announced that the Temporary Work (Skilled) visa (subclass 457 visa) will be abolished and replaced with the completely new Temporary Skill Shortage (TSS) visa which will support businesses in addressing genuine skill shortages.

Australian Temporary skill shortage work (TSS) Visa

This visa will allow businesses to address genuine skill shortages, there are two main streams available under this new TSS visa program:

  • Short-term stream – this is for employers to source genuine temporary overseas skilled workers in occupations included on the Short-term Skilled Occupation List for a maximum of two years (or up to four years if an international trade obligation applies)
  • Medium-term stream – this is for employers to source highly skilled overseas workers to fill medium-term critical skills in occupations included on the Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List  for up to four years, with eligibility to apply for permanent residence after three years

Canada work permit

The Canadian Work permit are designed for Canadian employers to recruit staff from overseas if they are unable to find a suitable candidate in the Canadian labour market.

Employers need to pay the standard rate of pay set by the province and the Job needs to advertised in Canada with a labour Market Impact Assessment successfully gained from the HRSDA.
