Age Requirements

Your eligibility depends on where you’re from:

Ages 18-35: Australia, Canada, New Zealand, South Korea Ages 18-30: Andorra, Iceland, Japan, Monaco, San Marino, Uruguay

Special Categories

• British overseas citizen
• British overseas territories citizen
• British national (overseas)
• Hong Kong SAR passport holders (ballot required)
• Taiwan nationals (ballot required)

Financial Requirements

You must have £2,530 in savings for at least 28 consecutive days before applying.

Important Restrictions

You cannot apply if you:

• Have children under 18 living with you or that you financially support
• Have previously used this visa scheme

What Can You Do in the UK?

Work Opportunities

• Take most types of employment
• Work as a freelancer or contractor
• Start your own business (with some restrictions)

Study Options

• Enroll in courses and educational programs
• Some courses may require additional approval

What You Cannot Do

• Work as a professional athlete or sports coach
• Access public funds or benefits
• Bring family members on your application

Extension Options

Who Can Extend?

Only applicants from Australia, Canada, or New Zealand can extend their visa for an additional year.

Extension Details

• Cost: £319 application fee + £776 health surcharge
• Duration: One additional year
• Timing: Apply within 28 days of current visa expiry
• Restriction: Only one extension allowed per person

Country-Specific Requirements

Ballot System

Hong Kong and Taiwan applicants must be selected through the Youth Mobility Scheme ballot before applying.

Criminal Record Certificates Required

• Andorra: Certificate of criminal records
• Iceland: Sakavottorð criminal certificate
• San Marino: Letter from Directorate of Political and Diplomatic Affairs
• Uruguay: Certificado de Antecedentes Judiciales

All certificates must be issued within 6 months of visa application.
