The Singapore Global Investor Program is a government-led initiative that allows foreign nationals to obtain permanent residence status in Singapore by making a substantial investment in the country. The program is designed to attract wealthy entrepreneurs and investors who are willing to contribute to Singapore’s economy and society.

There are three investment options available under the Singapore Global Investor Program:

• Invest SGD 10 million (including paid-up capital) into a new or existing business in Singapore and hire at least 30 employees.
• Invest SGD 25 million into a Singapore Economic Development Board-approved fund that invests in local companies.
• Establish a Singapore-based single family office with assets under management of at least SGD 200 million. Deploy at least SGD 50 million of the assets in eligible investments and maintain them throughout the five-year residence period.

The application process for the Singapore Global Investor Program takes approximately nine to twelve months. Applicants must submit a personal profile, proposed investment plan, and supporting documents. An interview is required, followed by an approval in principle if all criteria are met. Successful applicants must formalize their permanent residence status within one year.

Family members, including the investor’s spouse and children under 21 years old, can apply for permanent residence under the investor’s application. Male dependents will be liable for national service, while parents and unmarried children above 21 years old can apply for a five-year long-term visit pass.

After formalizing permanent residence, investors receive a re-entry permit (REP) valid for five years, allowing seamless travel in and out of Singapore. The REP can be renewed based on meeting specific requirements at the end of the fifth year.

Singaporean citizenship can be applied for after two years of permanent residence. Singaporean passport holders enjoy visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to 193 destinations, including the Schengen Area, Canada, China, and the USA.
