Festival of Lights at VanDusen Botanical Garden

Walk through a million lights that decorate a beautiful 15 acre botancial garden and try not to have a magical time. The Festival of Lights is returning to VanDusen Botanical Garden on December 1st and will run until January 6th. Tickets cost $18.50 online and $20 at the gate. You’ll also be able to go for a ride on the carousel, which is included with your ticket.

Go sledding, tobogganing, or tubing at Mount Seymour

Bring some playfulness into your date. You can relive your childhood fun and slide down the slopes at Mount Seymour on a tube, sled or toboggan. They have a Snow Tube Park and a Toboggan Park for all ages. Afterwards, you can go snowshoeing or hiking on the trails like Dog Mountain or hit the slopes for ski/board sesh.

Glow Gardens

Experience a million twinkling lights and stroll through picture-perfect light tunnels at Glow Gardens in Langley, BC. The holiday event starts on November 22nd and you can get tickets on their website now. There will be tons of light displays, a Christmas market, three bars, and more!

Located downtown at the Jack Poole Plaza, this annual Christmas event is always a hit in Vancouver. The Vancouver Christmas Market brings a German-inspired Christmas experience to the city and will have over 80 huts of authentic German sweets and treats.

Canyon Lights at the Capilano Suspension Bridge Park

The ever-popular Capilano Suspension Bridge Park gets completely transformed into a magical Christmas light heaven every year and this year will be no exception. The whole park gets decked out for the holidays, and it is so extra and so perfect. This year, Canyon Lights will run from November 22nd, 2018 to January 27th, 2019.

Peak of Christmas on Grouse Mountain

The mountaintop on Grouse is transforming into a magical winter wonderland for Christmas! There will be tons of cute outdoor Christmas festivities, such as light tunnels and trails, an 8,000 square foot outdoor ice skating rink, sleigh rides, and more. The Peak of Christmas will take place from November 23rd, 2018 to January 6th, 2019.

Bright Nights in Stanley Park

If you want to see a free but spectacular light display, head over to Stanley Park for their annual Bright Nights holiday event. There will be three million sparkling lights, and could that sound any more magical? Entrance is by donation and proceeds benefit the BC Professional Fire Fighters’ Burn Fund. There’s also a Christmas train that you can ride for around $15.

Ice Skating at Robson Square

For a free and fun Christmas date, try ice skating at Robson Square. The skating rink is free to the public and is open long past Christmas is over, from December 1st, 2018 until February 28th, 2019. If you don’t have your own skates, there are rentals available for $5 a pair.
